Fingerit/Cointelpro {pt. 1}

The astroturfers are scrambling to make this whole thing seem like personal vendettas between anonymous usernames. Perhaps if one were to just go with Fingerit's attacks on Dave with his Lessons of Long Island diary, this ruse could continue. There one can see how Fingerit supported rightwingers like Hannity and Bill O'Reilly. They can see how the top Kos administrators punished Dave and gave this MajorFlaw of a human their support. Maybe even though Fingerit was clearly sidetracking the essence of Dave's essay, it could be seen as some kind of immature give and take.

I've been very curious what started the animosity between Dave and MajorFlaw/Ugog. I figured it out yesterday. The origination of the bad blood confirms that Fingerit supports rightwing hate radio and wanted to knock the effective activist down.

Bookstore Event Cancelled, Wingnut Urges Listeners to Harass Me

{diary and thread excerpts}

Mark Levin's (buddy of Rush, sidekick of Hannity) book signing scheduled for December 1st in Ridgewood has been cancelled. Levin then spent 45 minutes engaging in a verbal tirade and urging his listeners to go harass me, rhetoric which is inviting not only very serious legal action tens of times more serious than what has already occurred but possible legitimate polic action as well. This cancellation came after one of Levin's wingnuts "Pete From Long Island" posted for several hours on Levin's website that I should be "coldcocked" but only after the "cameras are taken out first." But instead of denouncing Pete from Long Island, Levin makes Pete from LI his 2nd phone caller of the show.

Levin then argues that my "entire biography" should be posted online, including my address, phone number, places of work, etc... Although worded coyly, Levin is basically urging his listeners to go out there and act like brownshirts. You can hear the disturbing audio here. Basically, the audio is full of name calling and incitement. It's very low, even for a dirtbag like Levin....

what inspired people to plan to go to Bookends Saturday? Was it me? No. There were calls across the internet for action prior to yesterday by many people whom I do not know. What motivated people was righteous outrage at Levin, Boyce, and Hannity for trying to have someone arrested because they didn't like my politics and were afraid of a question they thought I was going to ask. Regardless of politics, this touched a raw nerve in people and rightly so. There's no defense for Boyce, Levin, and Hannity and they know it and their lawyers know it.

Third, there's a fine but firm line between a public forum and a private business. A private business that invites people to its store for a big event is not the same as some New York City law firm that has an employee doing legal related work. The law firm isn't inviting anyone to its place just as Levin isn't inviting anyone to go stand outside his studio while he's broadcasting. Nobody on this site has advocated going to any bookowner's house, Levin's house, Hannity's house, Levin's business office, Hannity's business office, Boyce's residence, etc... For Levin to advocate that his Insanitized skinhead and neo nazi thugs should somehow harass me at truly private places such as a workplace that is not a public forum or my home which is not open to public events is way beyond the pale....

Dave's tip jar:
again, sunlight is needed (399+ / 0-)
These KKK and brownshirt tactics of Levin and company have to be confronted head on.

I shall not rest until right wing conservatives are 4th party gadflies limited to offering minor corrections on legislation once or twice a year.

Even Michael Bouldin gave Dave kudos.
Wow. (88+ / 0-)
Isn't it, like, illegal, to incite violence over the airwaves? That's sure what this sounds like.

Interesting, though, that media figures, who by their nature seek mass public exposure, are now recoiling from that public. Not that this says anything about the essential hollowness and depravity of wingnuttery, of course.

Good luck. Tipped and Rec'd.

Then the digital brownshirts started to show up.

That's called an ad hominem attack with nothing of substance to back it up. Sure, he chose to engage - and he was alone, with no camera, no t-shirt, no sign, and stood politely on line - but he never actually got the chance to ask his question before the police were called, which is a draconian solution. He IS a victim in that regard, and I believe he will have his day in court.

You chose to show up at a Hannity event and while there, stalked him with contextually trollish and obnoxious questions. They went overboard by calling the gendarmerie--which gave you the incident you wanted. Since then you have trashed any shot at a civil lawsuit by opening your big fucking mouth (legal term of art) all over the internets.

You are very much the master of your own fate here and you love being the center of attention. Don't further embarrass yourself by crying, "rape".

When someone incites others, as in:

I'm asking (admittedly selfishly) that thousands of leftists, progressives, centrists, liberals, and non right wing conservatives show up at Bookends (232 East Ridgewood Avenue) in Ridgewood, New Jersey (about 15 minutes from George Washington Bridge) on Saturday December 1st way before 1 p.m. for an opportunity to observe what the Republican Party's de facto main media propagandist Sean Hannity and his friends and audience are truly like. I am going by myself and perhaps a few other people will either accompany me directly or be there at my request. I'm not going as part of any known group so if other groups show up, they show up on their own volition.

You accused him of an unethical and criminal act. His actions do not meet either definition. Attending a public event in a place of business that has been advertised can not be considered stalking. Was the guy from Webb's campaign who Allen called "macaca" a stalker?

Furthermore, since when is "your big fucking mouth" a legal term of art?

Finally, he didn't cry "rape" and you know it. He used an inappropriate analogy, but spare me the PC gotcha. No reasonable person would conclude that he really intended to compare his experience to the trauma and dehumanization of being raped.

interestingly, it's the guy in the car who it could be argued tangently who caused a disturbance but you don't hear a peep from Hannity or Levin.

So why are they attacking the guy who didn't create any disturbance whatsoever and not saying a word about the wearechange guy?

That other guy is nothing to them unless he posts about the occurance and might actually have a following, like you have now.

I agree with you, I am tired of bowing down to the wingnuts and turning the other check everytime I am called a traitor. I feel that some on the left absolutely need to get down in the mud with the wingnuts. This is not a level playing field so why should we try our hardest to make it so? Often times the results of this pandering to the wingnuts makes us look soft-i.e soft on terror(and I know our fight is with obl, not terror). Let them throw the first punch, but respond with force. But I am a dem from the south, so fightin is in my blood.
